Cura Terra could not exist without our devoted team. We are especially grateful to our 2021-2022, Fall 2020 and Spring 2021 teams who laid the groundwork for the journal! See the current team below.

Executive Directors

  • Ursula Gately

    Ursula is a senior in the College from Paradise Valley, Arizona majoring in Biology of Global Health on a premed track. Beyond her love for spending time in nature, she is interested in the intersection of human health and the environment. This passion has guided her work to Cura Terra. She is a genetics teaching assistant, volunteer in George Washington’s Emergency Department, and founder of the Georgetown Undergraduate Environmental Health Collaborative. In her free time, Ursula enjoys reading, meditating, rock climbing, and playing guitar. Some of her hobbies include music, hiking, camping, cowgirling, and gardening!

  • Ruhie Rapolu

    Ruhie is a sophomore in the College from Cary, North Carolina majoring in Environmental biology. She is initially became interested in the environment and Cura Terra because of the urgent need for environmental action and the government’s lack of motivation for such action. She is also involved in the Guzaarish and the CSJ’s program, HOME. Some of her hobbies include golf, piano, and dance!

  • Miray Samuel

    Bio will Miray is a sophomore in the College, majoring in biochemistry and minoring in public health. Outside of Cura Terra, she works with the CSJ on both the Alternative Breaks Program and First-Year Orientation to Community Involvement, as well as works in the Maillard lab in the Department of Chemistry studying tuberculosis. She also hosts a radio show on WGTB!

  • Charvee Dua

    Charvee is a sophomore in the College from Plainsboro, New Jersey majoring in Environmental Biology. She has always enjoyed being outdoors and coming to Georgetown, she found a passion for making a difference and impacting climate policy. Cura Terra let her intersect these two values—creating a blend of her personal values about environmental justice along with her academic goals within the field of environmental biology. She is also involved in the Varsity Women’s Rowing team and . Some of her hobbies include journaling, art, listening to music, and being outdoors!

  • Randall Amster: Faculty Advisor

    Randall Amster, J.D., Ph.D., is Co-Director and Teaching Professor of Environmental Studies. He teaches and publishes on subjects including peace and nonviolence, social and environmental justice, political theory, and emerging technologies; serves on the editorial board of numerous academic journals; and writes for a wide range of popular and scholarly publications. His research interests include environmental peacebuilding, climate justice, intersectionality and ecology, community and sustainability, "digital food," and the justice implications of contemporary technology. On campus, he works with groups exploring areas including climate change, food justice, and curricular development, and serves as Faculty Director of the Core Pathways and Core Transformation initiatives.
