Cura Terra could not exist without our devoted team. We are especially grateful to our Fall 2020 and Spring 2021 teams who laid the groundwork for the journal! See the current team below.

Executive Board

  • Julia Jackson

    Julia is a senior in the College from Denver, Colorado majoring in Anthropology and minoring in Environmental Studies and Arabic. She is passionate about taking an analytical and interdisciplinary approach to environmental issues. She started working on Cura Terra when it was a class through the Environmental Studies program and have been involved ever since. She is also involved in Club Rock Climbing, Stride for College, the Honor Council, and Alpha Sigma Nu. Some of her hobbies include climbing, hiking, reading, and cooking!

  • Seamus Caslin

    Seamus is a junior in the College from Sacramento, California majoring in Environmental Biology and Government. He found his love for the environment spending a lot of time outside growing up, and has been passionate about protecting wilderness and natural spaces ever since. Cura Terra has allowed him to combine this passion with his love for good writing and good research. He is also involved in the Georgetown Running Club. Some of his hobbies include running, hiking, camping, and road trips!

  • Ursula Gately

    Ursula is a junior in the College from Paradise Valley, Arizona majoring in Biology of Global Health on a premed track. Beyond her love for spending time in nature, she is interested in the intersection of human health and the environment. This passion has guided her work to Cura Terra. She is also involved in GREEN, the John Main Center, Georgetown Opportunities for Leadership Development, Club Rock Climbing, and is an SAA in the Biology Department. Some of her hobbies include music, hiking, camping, cowgirling, and gardening!

  • Dora Szegedy: Communications and Outreach Director

    Dora is a junior in the College from Hillsborough, New Jersey majoring in Linguistics and German and minoring in Environmental Studies and potentially Psychology. She is passionate about language and environmental causes and interested in what aspects of the language used to communicate those causes effectively stirs public audiences to action. She is also involved in the ENST Committee, Club Rock Climbing, Club Boxing, and is an ESCAPE leader. Some of her hobbies include climbing, hiking, singing, and sewing!

  • Alison McLeod: Blog Director

    Allison is a sophomore in the College from Chicago, Illinois majoring in Government and Psychology and minoring in Environmental Studies. She was drawn to Cura Terra because of its emphasis on an interdisciplinary approach to environmental issues in the modern age as well as its focus on the intersection of academic and creative approaches to the environment. Her interests in the ways climate change is altering the world we know today and passion to get people affected by the climate crisis’ stories out there led her to Cura Terra. She is also involved in Project Lighthouse, GREEN, and H*yas for Choice. Some of her hobbies include reading, writing, and being outdoors!

  • Charvee Dua: Media and Design Director

    Charvee is a freshman in the College from Plainsboro, New Jersey majoring in Environmental Biology. She has always enjoyed being outdoors and coming to Georgetown, she found a passion for making a difference and impacting climate policy. Cura Terra let her intersect these two values—creating a blend of her personal values about environmental justice along with her academic goals within the field of environmental biology. She is also involved in the Varsity Women’s Rowing team and . Some of her hobbies include journaling, art, listening to music, and being outdoors!

  • Ruhie Rapolu: Blog Writer

    Ruhie is a freshman in the College from Cary, North Carolina majoring in Environmental biology. She is initially became interested in the environment and Cura Terra because of the urgent need for environmental action and the government’s lack of motivation for such action. She is also involved in the Guzaarish and the CSJ’s program, HOME. Some of her hobbies include golf, piano, and dance!

  • Randall Amster: Faculty Advisor

    Randall Amster, J.D., Ph.D., is Co-Director and Teaching Professor of Environmental Studies. He teaches and publishes on subjects including peace and nonviolence, social and environmental justice, political theory, and emerging technologies; serves on the editorial board of numerous academic journals; and writes for a wide range of popular and scholarly publications. His research interests include environmental peacebuilding, climate justice, intersectionality and ecology, community and sustainability, "digital food," and the justice implications of contemporary technology. On campus, he works with groups exploring areas including climate change, food justice, and curricular development, and serves as Faculty Director of the Core Pathways and Core Transformation initiatives.
